Who do you think has the best name so far on the srever? The name that fits the character best... Mine would hafta be Louis Cypher or Studlow Flashheart the Third. One sounds truly evil and the other well, a bit on the soap operaish which fits Studsy perfect in my mind. Though i also like Squillion Berygobbler the hin.

i think Crom is a good name for a half-orc. ;D studlow flasheart the third is just hillarious and you can tell right away by just looking at the name that he's so full of himself... ;D (no offense to studlow's player, this is meant as a compliment) at the risk of sounding selfish, i will also mention jargo as one of the best names i've seen. i just like the simplicity of the name, and at least to my ears it sounds cool when spoken aloud.

Well -- I'm glad you like the name, moulinous, thanks for saying so :-) A lot of players have asked me where the name is from, and if there is any particular reason for it other than to warn new characters what they're about to suffer if they engage him in a conversation (or should I say "monologue"). Or stand around for long enough to let him start one. The name was indeed carefully picked to capture the essence of the pompous, self-centered wind-bag he is... *WARNING: Boring UK TV-trivia following* I don't know of anyone actually called "Studlow"; that part was constructed as I made the character. "Flasheart", on the other hand, has a specific reference. Several UK-players, and a few other European ones, have correctly identified it as a "loan" from the brilliant "Black Adder" TV series, starring Rowan Atkinson. There is a character called Lord Flasheart (in the medieval setting of the show) and later Captain Flasheart (basically the same guy in a WWI setting), played by Rik Mayall, the comedian/actor who also starred in series such as "Bottom" and "The Young Ones". There is no way to describe that character's outrageous behaviour, you'd have to see it. I strongly recommend renting/buying all of the Black Adder-series if you haven't. The major difference between Black Adder-Flasheart and the FRC-one, is of course that the TV version actually *can* do anything (and uhm, anyone, at least female). While the FRC version you all know and loathe, only *thinks* he's the gods' gift to women and society in general. Some of the characters of FRC, who've gotten/suffered to know Stud a bit closer, also know of the IC reason for his name... but that's a very different tale PS! Personally I think there are several great names on FRC, too many to list IMO.

Well, this is one my girlfriend made up a long time ago that i always thought was perfect. A dwarven female named "Nolah." I dunno... sounds very dwarvishly feminine. "Laurk" is also one my ol' lady came up with for an elfmaid that I particularly liked. She is good with names.
Of course... as I told him, Studlow Flasheart III should start an "Iron maiden-esk" band where they only wear loin cloths on stage and string together bitching wammy bar solo's while wailing away in high pitched voices laced with vibrato about the might of steel.. or the blood of kings. Rock on.

I am going to have to debate on the best dynamic duo, as I think Hrothgar and Vind are by far the best. Of course very few people actually get to see them in their finer moments, but im sure some of the dms have caught their antics.
Best name on the server? I would have to say Vind is the most liked because I have seen four incarnations on the same name by four seperate players ... that was really bizarre ...
"Is that you Vind?"
"Ummm I dont know you..."
" Oh ... well have fun at FRC ..."

LOL, well Laurk -- there *is* a stage right there in Isinhold, you know? You're playing with fire... now to round up enough roadies to make it happen Yet somehow I always imagined Studlow as more of a disco-character. You know, the guy at the end of the bar; shirt unbuttoned down to the navel and sporting sideburns the size and shape of dead squirrels -- endlessly dancing to some inner, highly dysfunctional rhythm and calling out obsceneties to passing females. Clueless, persistent and eternally unsuccessful, of course.

hrothgar and vind are great names yeah. i've seen the name vind pop up on player lists on all kinds of different servers, it seems to be a very popular elf name, which is why i didn't mention it as the greatest on FRC. too common... no offense. hrothgar is great too, if i only knew how to pernounce it...! ;D *swallows his tongue trying to pernounce it* hh-r... hrr... hhhh-ro... should i even be trying to pernounce the h at the beginning? lol edit: by the way, did you guys know that vind is also danish for wind? yeah, you think about that... yarr...

Yeah i just called him Beavis when he was not lookin-...*whispering in the background* He was played by who? oh...yeah, Hrothgar was the BEST NAME EVER. that is what i meant to write...and this isnt Guldar, no this is uhhhh, Rannan. Yeah thats it. Nope not Guldar, beavi- i mean, hrothgar...

Phonetical spelling as I see it:
roth-gar
h just adds a little emphasis at the beginning

great! now i know how to pernounce it! ;D weee! and no, vind just means wind like the wind blows. nothing about gas in that translation.

ah vell, I thought that perhaps a gassy translation might explain Vind's stinkyness.
and it is funny how many have shown up around. Vind's I mean. Know how I can up with it? cause on the first server I played on I had a very similar fellow, but his name was like Anal'thola or something crazy like that, and that was a pain in the ass to type. so I decided a good short one syllable vord vould be better, and came up vith Vind. Kooky huh? ok not that kooky. I alvays liked Hroth's name cause it made me think of Beowulf. There are a lot out there that are great. Personally, I think SHarita fits her character very vell, as vell as Crom and Thorstein. Heh and I like Capn' Kam too.
And I vill go ahead and back Quad on us being the best Dynamic Duo, I mean hey, did Justi mistake the Neverending Nights guys for anyone else but us? ;D

Well one of the reason I didn't put anything on here, is I don't think I could seperate the characters from the names. And last thing I want to see is a popularity contest. So I will keep my opinions to myself.

let's change this topic slightly... if you've ever wondered what everyone else thinks about the name you've picked for a character, and you'd like comments, post the name now and let people give you some feed back. i've always wondered if kruhl was fitting for that character...

"You mean Ramen Lo Mein? I just figured you had an obsession with chinese noodles."
Hahahaha. *snorts*
*clears his throat*
Actually, I dig the name. It is a strong name, but not overly dark in nature.
Much better than Aelrik...which I think is kinda blah. I never really thought I'd play Aelrik more than a few nights...he just managed to get into the thick of things right from the starting gate...
how about Chrill - what is that? how is this pronounced? I have been thinking it sounds out like "Shrill" - but others have said it "Krill" which is what...some kind of plankton? heheheh.

i think Rannan fits the guy perfect. Kinda like Kam,fits the pirate, though i think there be a better merchant der is damm yah...i mean, yeah Kam is a good merchant. Also, dig Sharita, another good fit, just sound like a paladin to me. Jargo sounds like a bouncer to me, lucky he does dress the part too. LOL What does anyone think of Guldar Caverholme?

LOL What does anyone think of Guldar Caverholme? lmao ;D i think guldar sounds dwarven, and yet it's also catchy so you actually remember the guy's name... ranan sounds good for the character too. it doesn't sound evil, but it has power. now, what does everyone think about kruhl? really. i've been wondering what everyone thought about it since creating him. it's pernounced sorta like the word cruel, but only slightly faster.

Ok, this is fun.
As for Ranan, I always wondered what Willow Offgood's boy would grow up to be... imagine that. How's Mims? Hehe...
Jargo seems like a good pirate name... you should sail the high seas with Kam. Kam seems like the type who would be tinkerer... fixes stuff.... I dunno.
Guldar... That sounds like it would make a cool name for a character in that kick ass "R" rated cartoon movie called "Fire & Ice" from the 70's. Maybe like a a big guy with an axe who always wears an exicutioner mask.
Sharita would make a hot latin Paladin. What's that ladies name from Zoro? Throw her into fullplate... there you go. Hot.
As for Hrothgar, as I was telling Vind the other night... several years ago, me and some buddies were playing D&D and wanted to come up with the sweetest cheese-ball names we could think of. Names straight out of a 70's barbarian flick like "Ator the Blademaster" or something which would go especially well with the "Man-O-War" butt rock tribute we were diving into in full rock fury style. Our choices were: Lothar, Blore, Fuk of the Mountain, and Hrothgar... UwaaaHyahyahya.
Now that I am on everyones hit list... what do you think of Manshin? Have a ball.

On another note, Manshin.......hmm......for some reason it calls to mind a classic quote:
"I am Elmer J Fudd, miwwionaire, I own a mansion and a yacht."
