One of my favorites is finding people standing on a spawn point of things that can't possibly hurt them, chatting away and having a grand discussion, being breifly interrupted by the poor creatures that happen to spawn. On occassion, the spawns getting wiped-out *may* send out for tougher reinforcements...... (sidenote) Not the best roleplay form. Honestly, would you really continue to have a discussion where you are being attacked every so often?

yet if you sometimes die in a dungeon and sometimes clear it with ease with lucky rolls, then when is it powergaming? i mean, at times i can breeze through the hag caves or the tower in the bramble or those redmist crypts. and sometimes i get to say hi to the demon in the fugue plain.LOL it just is the luck of the roll sometimes. last time i went in the redmist crypts, a dm did spawn a lot of extra stuff and a sensible dwarf would have ran, thank god Guldar aint sensible, lol, and i fought my way through it complete with cursing and cussing the whole way as only Guldie would do. anyhow, back to my orignal question, is it power gaming when you sometimes die in there and sometimes do not?

You can figure it out for yourself I'm sure.
Look at how often you die. Compare that to how often you go there. Then look at how many other places there are to visit.
If you feel relatively safe in venturing there because most of the time you will survive... don't make the place a habit! Get some variety in your travels.
If you are hitting the same place 4 to 6 times a day we DO notice!
Personally I'm thinking about letting that certain player waste another month or so then have an NPC rob him of all his items and kill him. I'll be nice and not make him permanently dead just drop him back down to oh maybe level 6. Unless some nicer DM talks me out of it.

wow. how do i phrase this without being flamed again and told i will be getting penalized soon in levels? is this no matter what i do i will be penalized in levels? whoever robs me is going to steal xp too i guess? that sucks. Oh well, water off a ducks back i guess and i will not ask any more questions, ever. thats a promise as i did just ask the question to really understand what was being said, not to be a jerk. this is my first time playing an online game and i am learning as i go, so bear with me. as for losing six levels for going to a place that i could die rather than a place where i will be true farming as i see many people do, well, anyhow. thats a moot point. I know that i have taken players who have been on the server much longer then me to places they have never been before. The stonelands, a cave where a skeletal intellect devourer chased me out of it. an orc cave that not many people knew about. even other places like Yele-drun and there is not a town or surronding area i have not been in at least once. I do understand that i go to someplaces a bit much and your threat,er i mean, point is taken. i will not go there anymore. but, the quest in redmist to free the people, i was hoping to close portals and have been trying to find other portals in that town as of late, not farming in my defense.sorry if that seemed that way as i can see where you think i would be farming. once again sorry about my lack of rp skills and i will work on it but i would hope next time you would PM me when you think i am being a bad gamer.
sorry dm rich, and no, to all those funny tells i was getting, he pmed me and told me it was not me he was after...yet.LOL

How did that song go I heard last night?
Oh yeah *starts to sing way off key half remembering the words*
Your so vain... I bet you think this song is about you... Your so vain... I bet you think this song is about you...
*stops because he can't remember the rest of the song*
Anyways only those that the shoe fits need to worry about it. And when I say someone visits the same place over and over and over and over (some days throw 2 more overs in there) I'm not joking or exaggerating.
Oh and just because my post comes after yours doesn't mean I'm just putting my 2 cents in on your post. I have to catch up on the other posts before you also.
*edit* This is mainly for everyone else since Moulinous hasn't edited his post after getting my response to his PM. I'd hate for EVERYONE to read that and think I was going off on him.

I got a hint a while back that my cleric might be too powerful for an area when a Mummy Sorceror started hurling death spells at me! Thank god for death ward.
Haven't gone to that specific area for a while, but still... when you perished in an area once at your current level, I don't think you're farming.

"... when you perished in an area once at your current level, I don't think you're farming."
This is were we disagree. Here is just one example to explain. If you lap that area for hours on end you are farming no matter if you die once in 50 laps or once every other lap. But that isn't the point of this thread.

What if you're the only person on the server, does that make it at least a bit more okay? Exploration is fun and all, but when the server is completely empty it sometimes seem rather pointless since there's no other players to meet. Besides, exploration usually gets you killed. At least, it gets my lvl 4 character killed ;D
