Sat down to work on a group project today. Apparently I'm the only one who even looked at the code, and had about half the GUI working in under an hour while the other two watched me. I hate group work, sometimes.

Update: 1/4 done. Project nearly completed. Think I've written about 3/4+ of the code for it. Thank goodness I'm done with that algorithms professor. Worst prof I've had to date.

Group work? Yeah. That is a constant disappointment. From Gradeschool ---> Forever.
And that also never changes.

Group work teaches you an important life lesson though. No matter what career you choose, you will at some point be forced to work with lazy, incompetent, fools.

Group work teaches you an important life lesson though. No matter what career you choose, you will at some point be forced to work with lazy, incompetent, fools. They aren't necessarily incompetent, but they're slow. I rewrote the majority of the GUI (including four new tasks) in the time it took one of them to revise my (already-working-for the-most-part) search function to account for partial searches and oddball input. I think, in total, they've done that, error checking, a 'manager mode' for this POS system, and an ID-input function that involved looking up the documentation for an unusual java library.

My server side programming with ASP class is going to be cancelled since I'm the only one who's signed up for it. I'm hoping the instructor is still planning on turning into an online class so that I don't have to go searching this late in registration for a new elective to take.

The thing I do that I always promise never ever to do again...But do it anyway, stay up all night. "Oh, I'll be alright. It's just 6 or 7 hours of class. I get off at 2:30 I'll go home and take a nap. This will totally work!" God, I hate myself sometimes.
It's almost as bad as when I'm studying and lie to myself and believe that I really will only rest my eyes for 5 mins, or just more txt response then no more distractions.
Damn you 8 am classes.

I feel left out bc I never went to college, but I can certainly relate to your post. I have a bad habit of staying up until 2:30am and beyond trying to get some RP in with those who play during that time. Before I know it I look at the clock and say "This is gonna suck".
With my boss being shady and my employment status hanging in the balance I am considering using my Post 9/11 GI Bill and enroll in college. Having only a HS diploma, that means I'll have to take an SAT. I'd prefer to do this sooner rather than later. Any pointers for someone who graduated grade school nearly 10yrs ago?

Try going to your local library and check out the SAT study materials and various videos. They do actually help, especially with refreshers.

It's going to be annoying, but do a lot of the practice problems. I never studied for mine, but I took it 'in' HS. Just do the basics, and don't forget to practice a bit of calculus just in case. It's a joke of a test, but you might as well try to destroy it.

Not that anyone knew I was gone, but I'm back in California now, all school done until next semester. My playtimes may or may not be sketchy; I'm living with my dad and he's had issues with my gaming before in the past.

Hey all! Sadly my summer vacation is already over and I've been back in school for a week. My classes, internship, and regular job are putting a lot of my plate, so don't expect me to be around very often. Usually summer is my time to catch up a little in game, but I won't get much of a break until I graduate next year.
In the meantime, you can count on Vivian being temporarily retired. Even if I did have enough time to play her, I'm not enjoying her anymore. I shouldn't be bothered by stupid drama, but I am... its just convenient I have something important in RL to do while I step away. I'll be around occasionally as Te'ijal.

I need to get some turbine time in! Awesome. I have been reading Wesley Rawles' Patriots/Survivors books and have gotten an interest in amateur flight from them. I honestly would lvoe to get some training on ultralight vehicles, both fixed and rotary winged. Right now I'm finishing up one of my last electives for my degree (US History, too easy), and am about to start working on three major electives (WMDs, Intro to Homeland Sec., Basics of Emergency Mgt.) I'm hoping these upcoming classes will be a bit easier than my last elective related courses. I dived into Manage Mass Casualty/Fatality and Emergency Mgt Communications Systema without even going through the intro courses. Still holding a steady 3.75 however.

Well, a trip to the emergency room and 2 days in the ICU made me cut my work load in half this summer. I was going to take 4 classes, but I'm only taking 2 which means the Fall is going to be a lot of work to make up for it. I'm still on track to graduate after the winter semester, though!

Mine start next week. Luckily they're all spread 5-6 hours apart. (One Tuesday, two Wednesday, two Thursday) The nasty ones are spread out too. Lucky! The best part yet- my birthday is the day after my last set, 'and' it's the last day of the semester.
