Zoe exits the room second but comes to a stop to cast her gaze over towards Ranan. "Ah, a pleasant sight for sore eyes; if not the cleanest..."
Her expression softens and she offers a small smile to him.

Though he generally gives the appearance of being oblivious to goings on, Ranan is quite observant and was quite certain that one of those who quickly left the Inn was Razzemal. Discreetly he allowed his gaze to shift around the room, knowing the elf's keeper could not be far.
"Tell me, mate any other guest take up room here? Perhaps a raven haired beauty.... doubt ya'd miss her." Ranan asking, as the Innkeeper laid the plate before him and refilled his mug, knowing full well the answer even before the man had a chance to speak it.
He stopped the bite of food short before his mouth as her words carried across the Inn. Turning, he quirked a grin as his eyes took her in.
"When I asked to hire a lass I had no idea I would get such a response." Ranan teasingly winked at her and laughed quietly.

Mirrir exits the room a moment later, pack settled over one shoulder, shield over the other. Her hood back leaves her smug expression exposed, her brows lofting curiously as she catches the exchange. She pauses to regard the man, intent green eyes accented by a small red braid that hangs down along the side of her face, the rest of her mass of long hair pulled back in a tight bun. She remains quiet as she observes.

"Ah Dearest, I do not think you could afford me."
The faint grin across her confident expression then fades back into a more common and casual demeanor. After any reply he may give, she turns the topic of conversation. "Before you arrived there was a traveler that happened through. He spoke of the Ilmateri shrine near here being burned; its priests 'murdered'. He also spoke of Loviatan markings left behind. Have you heard anything of this?"
As she finishes speaking, she turns her expecting gaze from Ranan to a Royal Scout that enters the inn. She watches the scout carefully as they pin a notice to the inn's message board, give them an appraising look (all of them have their hoods lowered I believe, or at least faces visible), then quickly leave. Zoe makes her way over to the message board to read the posted notice addressed to Mahrek. Zoe motions Mirrir over to read the notice once Zoe is done. Leaving Mirrir to read it, Zoe walks back over towards Ranan.
She speaks casually with a light shrug like the notice is of little concern. "Seems a Mahrek Vargas has upset the crown."
"Back to the shrine... With the location so near to here and the word of it so newly spread, it must be a very recent event. Have you heard anything about it?"

Remaining relaxed in the chair, he quietly watched as the parchment was posted. His eyes appraisingly focused on the green-eyed woman while they read the notice, finally looking away and standing as Zoe approached.
He shook his head and this time spoke quietly. "Heard not a word until this very moment. I take it, the desecration is a surprise to you as well, hm?" Ranan studied her closely as she reacted to his question, looking for the slightest of hints knowing full well Zoe was expert at concealing her thoughts.

Zoe, with an expression appearing quite serious, nods. She replies in a tone that the barkeep would be able to hear, but not too loud.
"I knew nothing of it until the traveler came in and spoke of it. The church would not have sanctioned such an event." She pauses a moment.
"I suppose we will now get a chance to see if the crown and people of this nation are able to focus on the good deeds I have done and the honesty I have presented or if they ignorantly judge me for the title I bear.
She shrugs.
"Either way, the weight is mine to bear and remedy, and I shall, as I always do, without complaint. The crown is lucky to have me as the High Priestess whether they realize it or not."

Mirrir gives a brief read over the proclamation, her long tapered nails clicking audibly at her sides as she flexes her fingers, a look of irritation conveyed with a curl of her lip and narrowing of her eyes.
She then casually casts her interest back towards the two, hooking her thumbs into her belt as she helps herself to an unobtrusive study of the pair, a quirked half smile lifting the left corner of her lips.

"Hnn, I believe you give the -good- people of Cormyr the benefit of the doubt, something I dare say would not be provided in return, my dear." Ranan concluded as he walked over to the notice going quiet while reading. Smirking as he finished, he turned and faced the other woman.
He smiled warmly and with the usual charm, while meeting her gaze, "Extraordinary..." He commented before dipping his head in a proper gentleman fashion. "I am Ranan Hallomein. I get the sense you might be an acquaintance of Zoe, pardon me for not properly introducing myself sooner." ((Ranan would wait briefly for a response and then return the conversation to the topic))
Moving back towards Zoe while speaking, his right arm bent behind his back caused his cloak to open some and fold back. Hanging from his belt, what appears to be an ornate mace would now be visible. "Is it not extraordinary to see such a public proclamation from the good and righteous Crown?" The bite of sarcasm evident in his words. "I suppose I should not be surprised, in fact none of us should. Those who claim to represent just and good... even the taste of those words are bitter with irony.... but as I was saying they -claim- it and hide behind such shields even when their actions or -inactions- suggest otherwise. In fact, when it comes right down to it, they act like ravenous wolves who smell fresh blood in the air. Rather barbaric. This poor lad who has had the 'wolves' called on him.... well I rather feel sad for him.... somewhat.
For all I have seen, my dear, I suspect the Crown or it's supporters will accuse, judge and attempt to carry out punishment on you in a single breath. Not that you need to be reminded, but be wary. At the least, this attack will taint your name, regardless if attributable or not."

((this takes place after a response from Mirrir))
Zoe grunts softly.
"If it can be proven that it was indeed a faithful of mine then I will take responsibility as the local leader of the faith, whether they are part of my resident church or not. However, there is just as much chance it was someone framing My Lady as there is it actually being so. I do hope the War Wizards are capable of discovering that soon."
She pauses, briefly closing her eyes and rubbing her nose.
"I suppose I should be swift to see messages and notices delivered to the proper locations and administration... Such an unfortunate expenditure of time."

A slow smile eases across Mirrirs lips, her casual focus fixating on Ranan with a pleased look overtaking her somewhat sharp features.
"Mm.. yes, somewhat hmh. I am Mirrir. A pleasure, Ranan, most certainly."
Her voice rich, carries with a firm self assurance, and her emphasis on 'pleasure' and 'most certainly' inflects interest that matches the lingering look she passes over him. Despite that though her body language remains distant, a lean on her back foot suggesting perhaps that she considers herself in a deferential position.

Ranan relaxed into his chair once again, nodding occasionally in agreement with Zoe's words. Digging a fork into his dinner, he offered another thought, "All well and good of course but the larger question is why has someone or some group chosen to frame your faith hm? Consider this act is blatantly obvious and would engender several damaging responses. Likewise it clearly points a finger right at you, which leads me to believe the motivation is personal. Indeed."
He took a bite, chewing it slowly and watching Zoe's reaction.
"Where are my manners, would you lovely ladies care to join me for some food and drink?"

"Mmm.. as much as I am enticed by your invitation, dear Ranan.. I have not one but two firestarters to chase.. I should be on my way. I would -very much- like for you to extend an invitation to me in the future, however, hmhm."
Her smile coy she lets her gaze linger for a moment before looking to Zoe.
"By your leave, of course." She dips her head, her posture beginning to shift away in expectation of dismissal.

Zoe considers Ranan's words for a moment, then glances to Mirror as she speaks. Zoe replies politely,"You may leave or stay as you would like. You are your own keeper. I am sure we will meet again in the furure, Mirrir. Farewell."
Zoe then returns her attention to Ranan; her thoughts spoken smooth and clearly as if well thought out; her voice still just loud enough for the innkeeper to hear.
"I do not know of many that would dare frame an attack against me personally, and even fewer that would do it in such an extreme as this. Even then, I have only been back inside Cormyr for less than a day. The timing is far too close. The best option in this case would be my mother, though she was with me in Amn. On top of that, this breaks the church's dogma and the penalty from the Queen, should she learn of a plot to bring about the tainting of my name and thus the church's name, would be so vastly exaggerated it would not be worth the risk. The Queen already watches her closely for the previous attempts against me and her recklessly aggressive nature. As well, should she fail, the chance that my reputation greatly increases is enough to likely keep her away."
Zoe pauses a short moment before continuing.
"Framing the church would be more likely. Or, perhaps someone looking to draw me back out from where I have been, away at. Though, generally, most would likely appreciate my absence. That is, unless they are seeking a confrontation. If that was their intention then they have succeeded in gaining my full undivided attention."

The horses didn't move much faster than a trot as the Purple Dragon patrol made it's way east along the Dragoneye Way. The journey had been rather uneventful; two caravans had passed, one in each direction and a bear had been driven back off into the woods.
However, now, in the distance, out ahead of them to the east, over a mile away, a person had come into view as the road began to bend northwestward. To say it was common to see individuals walking alone this far from a city wouldn't be true but it was a rather short distance, comparatively, between the cities and they were two of the largest in Cormyr, meaning the road was well traveled and wasn't nearly as dangerous as other roads so it wasn't particularly strange. Still, the guards took notice. Over the next minute or so they slowly closed the gap.
The person then appeared to stop, as if coming to notice them finally. With about three quarters of a mile between them the Purple Dragons could easily tell this person was looking around. With urgency, the individual then turned left and walked off the path, south towards the Dragonmere. Suddenly the patrol found themselves in an unusual situation. Granted adventurers commonly ran off into unknown regions but this situation presented itself strangely and the patrol picked up their pace towards where this person left the road. Upon reaching it they turned into a large gathering of trees. Following a poorly worn path they rounded a bend and came out on the opposite side of the trees where the hills fell away towards the Dragonmere. The scene out ahead of them was as amazing as it was frightening as a lone adult red dragon soared away out over the cliffs and finally off into the horizon out over the sea. Scanning the area, nothing appears left behind.
---
An adult red dragon eventually comes to settle in the eastern Mistwood, between Shallybrook and Valkur's Roar. Anyone coming to the landing area would find the landing, slaughtered gobliniods, and humaniod boot prints leaving the scene and heading southeast to the road towards Valkur's Roar.
