Salina walked north from the Last Flagon and through the Hullack with her panther, Ninja, on a sunny morning when she heard a squealing sound from around a rock outcropping. As she moved into view, she saw an owl bear holding a pixie in one large paw while it tried to pluck at her wings with the other. The pixie shrieked in horror as her wings were about to get torn off, when Ninja growled and caught the owl bear's attention. Forgetting the pixie for a moment, it advanced on Ninja with the tiny fey still in its paw. Salina took advantage of the opening, sidestepped her cat, and hit the owl bear with a Finger of Death, dropping it instantly.
As Salina approached the dead owl bear, she saw the pixie frantically trying to extricate herself from the lifeless paw that was still gripping her. "Calm down, little one," Salina said, as she pried the hairy fingers loose.
The pixie sprang forth and then hovered in front of the elf. "I smell like that thing now," she bemoaned, brushing at herself as if trying to remove the scent.
Salina laughed. "Better alive and smelly than dead and...what do you smell like usually?," she laughed again.
The pixie stuck her tongue out and hovered with her arms folded.
"I am d'Salina Nu'ari Caffyn, but you may call me Salina," the elf said. "And who might you be?"
The pixie spun lazy circles around Salina as she spoke. "My name is Bali...and you can call me Bali," she replied.
"Well, Bali, you need to be careful out here in these woods," Salina said.
"Bali has lived here her whole life, and doesn't need your advice!," the pixie said, stopping and folding her arms again.
"Very well, then," Salina said. "My cat Ninja and I must continue on. Enjoy your day and have fun with the owl bears...ta-ta."
"Wait! I didn't say you have to go!," Bali yelled after them as the elf and her panther walked off. "Thanks for rescuing me...how do you do that with your finger?"
"This?," Salina said, holding up her index finger. "I'm not sure, seems to have a mind of its own." She laughed and walked on with her cat, Bali trailing behind them, until eventually all three of them left the woods and continued to Thunderstone.
