I learned at a very young age that I cannot trust in or count on anyone but myself. To do so invites deceit and despair and opens a vulnerability that can be exploited. To do so is a weakness. With each kill I grow wiser, and with added wisdom I grow stronger. (Artemis Entreri)

Aw man! Ok, we need a sunny rainbow filled quote after Aris' evil one.
"Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in. "

" Life has no meaning. Each of us has meaning and we bring it to life. It is a waste to be asking the question when you are the answer."
Joseph Campbell, the author of Hero with a Thousand Faces,Historical Atlas of World Mythology, The Power of Myth and many other books. I highly recommend the first one listed for every roleplayer out there, it's fascinating. He was born today.

"Here I am on the shore of Brittany. Let the cities light up in the evening. My day is done. I am leaving Europe. The sea air will burn my lungs. Lost climates will tan me. I will swim, trample the grass, hung, and smoke especially. I will drink alcohol as strong as boiling metal--just as my dear ancestors did around their fires.” -Arthur Rimbaud, one of my favorite poets.

They're making prodigies younger and younger, aren't they? (Sorry, I just couldn't resist it)

For a fellow B5 fan, Darinder:
G'Kar: I believe that when we leave a place, part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in the station when it is quiet, and just listen. After a while, you will hear the echoes of all our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone, our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit that the part of me that is going will very much miss the part of you that is staying. -J.Michael Straczynski and Harlan Ellison wrote the episode this line appeared in, the very last of the series.

Well, if you're going to bring the erstwhile Narn ambassador into the discussion, how about this one (was it Marcus or maybe Garibaldi?)? Poor Harlan, he was never credited as an actual writer for the series. He was always listed as a "creative consultant" or a "conceptual consultant". For anybody who's a science fiction fan and hasn't seen the series... What are you waiting for?

Here's another funny exchange: Lennier: What kind of drink is that? Ambassador Vir Cotto: I'm not sure. The bartender called it a 'Shirley Temple'. Lennier: Interesting. I've studied many earth religions and I don't think I've ever heard of that particular temple. Ambassador Vir Cotto: Me neither. But, it's real good. Lennier: Well then. I shall make a point to visit it on my next trip to earth.

I didn't get to watch it yesterday, so disappointing I was working on my taxes! Looking forward to catching it this week sometime... so no spoilers!! This is a superb show, just wish each season would last a few more episodes. Between this, Rome and Spartacus (on Starz) I am a happy guy!

Because of your use of Ian McShane's portrait, here's a rather good scene with his character Al Swearingen from Deadwood. Warning, does contain mature language.
This show is chock-full of good quotes.Like Shakespeare with more profanity.

“We stand in the shadow of greater might. As their republic cast across the lives of every man, every woman and every child condemned to the darkness of slavery. Forced to toil and suffer, so that those of coin and position may see their fortunes grow beyond need or purpose. Let us teach them that all who draw breath are of equal worth! And those who seek to place heel upon throat of liberty shall fall to cry of freedom!”
-Spartacus

Jarec: It's a strategy reserved for desperate moments. Syd: Clearly they don't know the meaning of the word desperate. You should introduce them to Joric some day so they can see what it's all about.
Two men approach each other outside of The Wheel, one extending a hand to the other, saying, "A pleasure to finally make your acquaintance. Have you met my wife?"
The second man shakes the hand firmly, replying, "As long as this isn't her."
