For a while now, I have been working towards having one of my characters take a prestige class that is not available in NWN. I was wondering what the community's thoughts were on taking unavailable prestige classes and how they should be handled or treated. For example, each prestige class has their requirements, how far should these requirements be followed?
I have one character who is working towards becoming an unavailable prestige class. I've had my character learn social skills/abilities and take feats required by to take the prestige class in pnp. When my character has fulfilled the requirements of the prestige class I plan to have them rp as being the class. I have also slowly had my character transition in personality through rp to become more like the the personality of prestige class.
Personally, I think it is cool to try and rp an unavailable prestige class, but I don't necessarily think anyone should have be required to meet all the requirements such as feats, since they are not necessarily receiving the benefits of the prestige class other than the title. Although, I do believe that people should follow the social requirements of unavailable prestige classes if they require a specific ethnicity, language, or deity. For example, it would make little sense to play a Red Wizard born and raised in Waterdeep.
Anyway, I would like to hear the rest of the communities thoughts on this, especially for those who might be interested in rping unavailable prestige classes.

I have nothing against it as long as you don't expect a benefit from it. I would say that it depends on the Prestige Class though and if you want to be an official PRC that an NPC (a temple priest or shrine attendant) may have to acknowledge, like being a specialty priest, you should need the DM's to ok it.

You might also consider taking a similar prestige class (or normal class). Maybe you would substitute divine champion (champion of torm) for divine disciple or divine seeker?
I suppose divine seeker is a fairly different in focus as compared to divine champion ... rogue/divine vs fighter/divine, but they are both ways laypeople can become more focused on their deity.
I have a character who would like to be a divine seeker but can't, so I've thought about taking CoT and just rp'ing it as divine seeker-ish myself.

It sounds good to me as long as it's RPed out and doing so follows multi-classing rules.
