Scorpion Clan and Mantis Clan were adapted from the Rokugan campaign setting as it appeared in 3e Oriental Adventures. (Why WotC did Rokugan as their 3e Asian-themed setting instead of Kara-Tur is beyond me.)
So Scorpion Clan and Mantis Clan aren't actually canon for Forgotten Realms. My understanding of the Mantis and Scorpion clans as they were implemented in FRC was that they were not quite as they appeared in the Rokugan setting either.
Rokugan is the campaign setting of the Legend of the Five Rings games.

In the New Year you will likely see at least one or more canon monasteries in the module.

oh cool didn't know that, So any information I can find on them in the Rokugan campaign setting books wont be accurate since FRC sort borrowed the idea of them but didn't use them as they appeared in the Rokugan setting?(btw, I am clueless about Rokugan) I am just curious because one of my PCs use to be involved some plots with the Scorpion Clan and when the server comes back up I am considering about dusting him off the "don't play much any more" shelf and putting him back into action. I was hoping any information I can gather about the Scorpion clan would help as a RP tool. oh also Justi, I am glad to hear you are bringing some monasteries back in the Mod. Awesome!

The information you find on Scorpion Clan in the Rokugan setting is probably more accurate than the information on Mantis Clan as relates to FRC. My understanding is that both groups were somewhat undesirable in the Rokugan setting but their adaptations on FRC skewed them more toward LG and LE. Suffice to say that the Mantis and Scorpion clans as they appear on FRC are splinter groups from the main organization that have skewed more as they traveled west from their native land. (They're from Kara-Tur for our purposes, of course, since Rokugan doesn't exist in FR.) Of course I haven't actually read any in the Rokugan setting so I'm just repeating information as I remember it from DM Laurk, who was the one who made the Mantis Clan Monastary and who introduced the two groups to the module. The source that was used was Oriental Adventures (3e) though, so that would still be the best printed source for those groups, even if you have to accept that the information presented may not match with their portrayal on FRC.

Also looking forward to more source-accurate monasteries being added to the module. That sounds very cool.

Just wanted to add my two cents. ;D
I had to say something about this since I don't hear many people talking about Legend of the Five Rings or Rokugan anymore. It is one of my favorite games of all time. I have lots and lots of information on this subject. I use to play L5R back in the day and have many of the books still laying around. So if you need any information let me know. But be specific what you need exactly because if it was one thing the L5R game had it was loads of information and description.

I even have the source book on Kara Tur which was printed back the Advanced days. They had different subraces for dwarves and spirit folk which were like elves in a way but with interesting powers. If any need information on this please don't hesitate to ask.

Ok, it was poorly asked. I wasn't refering to all LT5R clans, only those implemented here..
