*new, more detailed posters replace those that were put up earlier around Arabel* *an addendum is written in finer print beneath the flowing text* Rules of the TournamentNo resting to replenish prayers or spells will be allowed once entrants have participated in their first match. Healing between matches is of course allowed and a number of priests will be available to assist the injured. Combatants should however bring their bandages to be certain. Combatants may use any potions, scrolls, wands, magical items prayers, spells, spellsongs and so forth before matches begin. There will be a count of five before each match begins where entrants may use shorter duration abilities if they so desire. Combatants may use any means to strengthen themselves or their partner, but they may not accept aid from outside parties except for healing between matches. Combatants may use any ability that strengthens their fighting prowess, but they cannot use magical abilities to effect the death, stunning, disabling or weakening of their opponent. For example, a spell or prayer to make a blade sharper is considered strengthening but a spell to strike the opponent with blades that sprout from the earth is considered a magical attack and is not allowed. Magical defenses that are purely passive are allowed but those that burn or otherwise impair upon the owner being struck are not allowed. Magical equipment that causes a spell to be cast on striking or on being struck must be specially approved. Minor spells will be allowed but disabling ones like certain stunning maces will not. Cursing with magical songs is considered a magical attack, but taunting your foes into overextending is allowed. Battletide is not allowed as it will sap the opponent's will to fight. Prayer is only allowed before the fight begins, cast away from the opponents. Dispelling the opponent by any means is not allowed. This includes holy sword prayers and blackstaff spells. Stopping time and obscuring the battlefield are also not allowed. Obscuring includes darkness and invisibility, though improved invisibility may be cast before the fight begins as long as the combatant strikes something to become visible before the fight begins. All combatants must be fully visible to the other combatants when combat begins. Combatants must stay within the designated battle area and must remain visible to their opponents at all times. During combat, entrants may not heal themselves or their partner, but they can use any other ability that is allowed above. All types of physical attacks are fair game: any type of melee weapons, ranged weapons or bare handed fighting. Combatants may throw axes, darts or shuriken, but they cannot throw firebombs or other incendiaries. They also cannot set/detonate traps. The summoning of creatures, objects, planar rifts and such are not allowed. Polymorphing is not allowed - Combatants must participate in their own shape. *superfine print* Rules are subject to change. // OOC The proving tournament is geared towards characters of level 10-15 or so. This is not a hard limit: we might allow a lvl 12 + lvl 16 and lower levels are certainly allowed if they want to be in it.
The proving tournament will begin at 11 AM US Central on Saturday nov 20th & as soon as that is over, we'll start the grand tournament. The whole thing should go fairly quickly, since it's 2v2 with single elimination rather than 1v1. Afk participants will be smited
If you have questions/suggestions about the rules, please respond via pm, asking IC in game or creating a separate thread for OOC questions rather than posting them here.
