Maleagant, Marklar, Chril, And me, Jorban, were wandering about in the Hobgoblin cave just west of Isinhold only a short while ago when me and Marklar strayed ahead of Chril. Very shortly after loosing sight of him in the caves, Marklar heard some fighting so we ran back to see what all the commotion was about. When we got there nothing was left. All we found was Chril's cloak and a ransom note! There was only one way the attacker/s could have come from and that was behind us, at least we thought! Just after discovering the body, our last member of the group came scampering along, Maleagant, who was finishing up some business back in Isinhold just prior. We quickly asked him if he had seen anyone leaving the area, but he said no. Maleagant did notice that the Cloak was full of holes from what seemed to be arrows. Also, the ground is quite hard and it was difficult to make out what footprints there were, though it seemed to be just ours. Therefore we believe the attack to have been a long ranged one, but we have no clue as to how many were involved. Also, no one was seen in the area, wich leads us to believe it was another thief, and that he snuck right past us! Marklar and I have had our words with Chril in the past, but even WE don't think anyone is deserving of this fate! We hope the people or Cormyr will rally together to help in this matter! His body was snatched and the ransom note left read:
'To Visitant Moonglow:
Your beloved Chril has been struck down, and his lifeless body will be hidden from all. If you wish for the return of his corpse, you must pay the sum of 50,000 gold pieces. No more, no less. If his wretched life is really worth it, come up with the gold and you will be contacted.'
Please help us in this situation if you can! Either by simply keeping a watchful eye, or helping pay the ransom, either way, every bit counts! Thank you for your time.
