Sometime in the hours between breakfast and morning formation chaos erupted in the barracks of the Royal Corps of Monster Hunters.
It began as a joke, some blade thought it would be funny to let a baby rust monster into the barracks. The first thing it encountered was a blade in uniform, who ran screaming to put as much distance between himself, (and his armor,) and the creature, but all the guard heard was, "Monster!"
The General Alarm bell rang out and half-eaten breakfasts crashed to the dining hall floor as all hands ran for their gear and their emergency stations. With many shouts and booted feet flying, the creature couldn't help but flee in terror into the dark corner of the barracks, and slip through the half-open door to the Second Officer's Quarters.
A half-dozen blades, not yet geared up for formation, tracked it down and dove into the room to catch the creature, but not before it had nervously chewed on the Swordcaptain's breastplate. The struggling gang pinned the creature, whose wailing and the burr of it's spinning tail was loud enough to hear in the yard outside the barracks, only to find the glowering face of the Swordcaptain himself, dressed only in a towel, staring them down.
The blades endured the Swordcaptain's angry interrogation, but of course, no one knew anything of the origins of the little monster. They found that their extra duty went easier as they retold the tale of the dressing down Commander Faril gave their Swordcaptain for appearing out of uniform at morning formation.
