Well, the location is there in Eveningstar.
Any suggestions on how you guys want this implemented, cause right now, I don't want to work on anything else that players suggest that they won't be using.

With the caravan jumping, would it still be profitable to go there to sell stuff or to check to see if your stuff sold?

OK... all I am going to do is set up an "Auction Board" at the location in Eveningstar, and maybe one in Suzail... that way folks can jump in right from the Welcome Zone, head to Suzail if they don't want to brave Eveningstar, and call it a day.
It will just be an open auction hall where players can leave messages on what they want to sell.
It will then be acceptable to send tells to players who consent to recieving them by posting their item is for sale. It will also be the players responsibility to delete their board posts if they no longer have items to sell.
That should do it. I will have it this week, probably tommorow.

Another idea would be to have maybe an actual PC merchant holding the items for other players. Again this is just off the top of my head but maybe if there was a mailbox or some other item where the items it contains could be viewed but not removed(Ive seen it on other servers the items acted like display cabinets) and an actual PC to do conduct the handling and transaction (for a small fee of course that would make for something interesting. If a system like this was put in place maybe it would work like this. Player A has something of value and plans to sell it, he hears about Merchant Player and approaches him with the item. Merchant player then pops it in his display case and Other players browse it. Making offers via tell/pm or some other means. Merchant player then either makes a sale reaping a small profit or returns the item to Player A due to it not reaching a reserve price or lack of interest. I know my character Aeron has something in mind like this once he raises enough capital (and respect) to do something like this. Maybe I should look into creating a merchant/auctioneer's guild. That would also be something interesting... a real live auction *scratches chin and looks for the guilds thread*

I like this idea, ive seen it done on other servers lots of different ways but having the message board in the auction house/area is probably the easiest. And a dm/player could always run a real auction at this spot too if there was enough quality items, or rare items for sale. (auctioneer taking a fee for selling of course)
