Oh, my GOODNESS! Zoomed in (with the Home key) while in Driving Camera Mode is INCREDIBLE! It's like a new game!

Sounds like fun. Two questions:
Which version did you try, v1 or v2?
Does the use of this mod cause any additional lag or other problems for the server?

I'm pretty sure any lag generated would be client side only, not server side. It's a game engine hack.
And yes, I'm still alive.

Right, it's not really having to communicate with the server to do anything different to normal, so I can't see it having too much of an effect on lag. That being said, what do I know? Someone who really knows may be able to answer properly.

I used v 2. The perspective is a bit skewed, but driving mode is fun.

Q: Does it cause lag?
A: It can. The lag seems to kick in only when you zoom out and then only in settings with a high polygon count. (The newer 1.69 tilesets not yet used here and sometimes with certain high polycount CEP placeables.) Though you can see farther in a tileset .. creatures don't render farther away than they do with the game normally. I've used this awhile now and it's been great for making some really sweet uphill screenshots in the new rolling terrain that 1.69 and CEP 2.2+ bring in game. If zooming out seems to make your video stutter or lag .. usually setting the distance grass renders to a lower figure in your .ini will fix it.

Sounds like this is client side lag, though, rather then server side, so using it will only slow things down for you, not for everyone else?

Yes and no. Usually client side lag affects the client the most. If there are lots of "tells" or group combat taking place, then client side lag can cascade to others. Not as severly ... but it does slow the others in a group down at times. The issue comes from the game trying to synchronise all the players and creatures actions smoothly. When someone is lagging they can affect a whole party as NWN awaits responses from that player.
The good news is, the lag I've seen with this hack is barely noticeable in what I described. And zooming back in usually fixes the issue. (Zooming out to max just renders tiles not normally seen ... great for screenies ... but a poor view for combat and not likely to be a big issue.)
