Searching around for something else I came across this map of Cormyr in 1479. I know a lot changes in that amount of time but I wasn't sure how much the geography would actually change. Here is the smaller of the two: Click here for the larger map. Taken from: forgottenrealms.wikia.com

So, if I'm reading this map right... Isinhold would be approximately on the Bridge of Fallen Men, and Redmist would be near Valkur's Roar?

So, if I'm reading this map right... Isinhold would be approximately on the Bridge of Fallen Men, and Redmist would be near Valkur's Roar? Redmist is exactly where Valkurs Roar would be. Oddly enough when I originally studied the Cormyr map the reason Redmist was created is because it seemed like there should be a city there. I am sure this has been the source of much non canon grumbling over the years. And yeah, Isinhold would be one of those little villages out in the Tunlands, which didn't really exist as a geographic region from my studies. I just wanted an opening village on the western side of the map, so I created Isinhold. So if we changed the name of Redmist to Valkurs Roar and Isinhold to one of the western villages I guess we'de be all canon then.

*cough* Shallybrook *cough*
>_> <_< >_>
*lightbulb*
OH!! I'm briliant!
In the thread about Player suggested DM plots I talked about Immersea being sold.
What if SHALLYBROOK was sold and the mage converted it to *booming voice* The Mage Tower.
*points at map*
I mean... *booming voice* The Mage Keep
It's perfect!

This is a future map from after the Spellplague and Cormyr having been at war for about a hundred years.
If I'm remembering my future history correctly, Cormyr also annexes the Dragon Coast during that time.
I think it would be safe to assume that some town names could get changed in the next hundred years, especially against a backdrop of war.

Ok, fine.
So the mage doesn't buy Shally for a hundred years.
I can wait.

If we change the names of Redmist and Isinhold to be more canon, I think it would be great to have in game events leading to the name changes. For example, someone could be brutally slain on the bridge in Isinhold leading to the name change "Bridge of the Fallen Man," etc. As for Shally, I hope that it is sold to a hin mage to keep the hin tone of Shallybrook intact. Hrm, maybe Karise will attempt to "sell" Shallybrook to Rigrin. . . . Muahaha! Edit: Intact, one word.

There oddly is a mages tower that relocated to Shallybrook a year or so ago. I must be psychic. And here you thought I was just psycho. And isn't there a hidden shrine to Mystra near there... man, I ate my Wheaties that morning.

Just out of curiosity, where would the High Forest and Silverymoon be located according to this map?

Roughly that-a-way about 600+ miles.

Here, this may help: www.wizards.com/dnd/images/wd_maps/FRposterLarge_150.jpg (This is a 6 MB JPEG, so be prepared for that!) Cormyr is located a good bit north and a little west the middle, just to the left of Sembia. High Forest is the big green area in the top left.
